Overview

Course Description

The Vibration Analysis Category III course is designed for the leader of the vibration analysis program and those who want to become a vibration specialist. Every vibration program should have a Category III analyst leading it.

This advanced course develops deep diagnostic expertise and the ability to establish and manage a vibration program. Training and accredited certification follow ISO 18436-2 and ISO/IEC 17024 via the certifying body, with 36 months of field experience required for full certification.

Objectives

What you will achieve

By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:

  • Lead and manage a vibration analysis program
  • Apply advanced diagnostic techniques for complex machinery
  • Perform advanced spectral, phase, and time-waveform analysis
  • Diagnose gearbox, electric motor, and complex bearing faults
  • Set alarm limits and establish acceptance criteria
  • Apply corrective action recommendations (balancing, alignment)
  • Prepare for the ISO 18436-2 Category III certification exam
Training methodology

How the course is delivered

The course uses BII Research's Crystal Clear approach — advanced 3D animations, simulations, and expert instruction — to convey complex diagnostic concepts. Extensive case studies and hands-on analysis build specialist-level capability.

Participants access the iLearnVibration system and Learning Zone throughout, with comprehensive reference material for ongoing program leadership.
