Course Description
The Ultrasound Category I course develops confident and effective ultrasound technicians — capable of diagnosing faults, detecting costly steam and air leaks, and precision lubricating bearings.
Ultrasound is an incredibly powerful and versatile technology. Participants gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of ultrasound, lubrication, and leak detection, learn to take quality dependable measurements, and begin diagnosing common faults. The course is filled with case studies, animations, and simulations. Certification follows ISO 18436-8 and ISO/IEC 17024 via the certifying body (exam: 60 questions, 2 hours, 70% pass; hearing test required).
What you will achieve
By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:
- Understand condition monitoring and the most common technologies
- Explain how ultrasound testing and ultrasound-assisted lubrication drive reliability improvement
- Set up and operate ultrasound equipment for safe data collection
- Collect quality, dependable ultrasound measurements and verify data integrity
- Detect a wide range of fault conditions: bearings, valves, steam traps, electrical systems
- Detect costly compressed air and steam leaks
- Correctly lubricate bearings using ultrasound guidance — not too much, not too little
- Perform basic fault detection, severity assessment, and diagnosis
How the course is delivered
The course is filled with case studies, 3D animations, and interactive simulations that make ultrasound easy to understand. Participants learn both the theory and the hands-on practice of data collection and diagnosis.
Access to the the online learning platform is provided from registration and for four months after course completion, plus ongoing free learning via the professional community.
