Course Description

Process safety is not occupational safety scaled up. A site can go years without a lost-time injury and still be one loss of containment away from a catastrophe — because the hazards that kill in bulk are not the ones that show in accident statistics.

This training course develops practical process safety capability for high-hazard industries. Participants learn the distinction between process and personal safety, the anatomy of major accidents and what they have in common, hazard identification and risk assessment for process plant, the control of major accident hazards, asset integrity and barrier management, human factors and organisational culture in process safety, and emergency planning — building the competence to recognise and control the hazards that produce disasters rather than incidents.

Training methodology

How the course is delivered

This training course combines process safety principles with major accident case studies and practical risk assessment exercises. Participants analyse real incidents, apply hazard identification techniques and build barrier models for realistic process plant.

The programme is designed for chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, plastics and pharmaceutical operations, and focuses on the low-frequency, high-consequence hazards that occupational safety systems do not address.
