Course Description
Steel accounts for a substantial share of global industrial emissions, and decarbonising it is the largest single industrial challenge of the energy transition. Hydrogen-based direct reduction is the leading route — and it is already reshaping investment decisions across steel, iron ore and hydrogen supply chains, with direct consequences for iron ore producers and energy suppliers alike.
This course explains green steel and the role of hydrogen in heavy industry. Participants learn conventional steelmaking and its emissions, the decarbonisation routes available, hydrogen direct reduced iron (H₂-DRI) and electric arc furnace steelmaking, hydrogen supply and electrolysis requirements, iron ore quality implications, project economics, and the policy and market forces driving green steel — including what it means for ore producers in the region.
