Course Description
The Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional credential, issued by the IAPP, has become the AI governance certification that boards, regulators and compliance functions recognise by name. It is a governance credential rather than a technical one — it certifies the ability to govern AI across its lifecycle, not to build it.
Its timing matters: EU AI Act obligations for high-risk systems take effect on 2 August 2026, with Annex II following in August 2027, and organisations are appointing AI governance leadership now.
This intensive course prepares participants for the AIGP examination against Body of Knowledge v2.1. It covers AI foundations and the technical stack, the laws and frameworks tested — the EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, OECD principles — governance of AI development, governance of AI deployment, and scenario-based examination technique.
Note: the AIGP credential is awarded by the IAPP following a proctored examination. Candidates register directly with the IAPP. This course is examination preparation and does not itself confer certification.
What you will achieve
By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:
- Explain AI foundations, the technical stack and the AI lifecycle
- Apply the EU AI Act risk-based framework and obligations
- Apply the NIST AI Risk Management Framework
- Relate ISO/IEC 42001, OECD principles and emerging AI law
- Govern AI development: data, models, testing and documentation

How the course is delivered
The course works systematically through the AIGP Body of Knowledge with scenario-based practice questions and mock examination conditions. Participants apply frameworks to realistic governance judgement calls, which is how the exam tests.
Note: eligibility, registration and examination are handled directly by the IAPP; this programme is preparation only.
