Overview

Course Description

Renewable electricity is cheap in exactly the places that are far from demand — and Power-to-X is how it gets shipped. By converting renewable power into hydrogen and onward into ammonia, methanol or synthetic fuels, regions with abundant sun and wind can export energy as a molecule rather than an electron. Renewable ammonia has emerged as the leading carrier, and the countries positioning for it are precisely those in this region.

This course explains Power-to-X and the renewable ammonia value chain. Participants learn the P2X concept and its pathways, electrolysis and hydrogen production, ammonia synthesis and the adapted Haber-Bosch process, methanol and synthetic fuels, storage, shipping and bunkering, the demand markets driving offtake, and the project economics and supply chain requirements that determine which P2X projects actually get built.

Objectives

What you will achieve

By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the Power-to-X concept and its pathways
  • Understand electrolysis and renewable hydrogen production
  • Describe ammonia synthesis and renewable ammonia production
  • Understand methanol and synthetic fuel routes
  • Explain storage, shipping and bunkering of energy carriers
  • Identify P2X demand markets and offtake
  • Assess P2X project economics and cost drivers
  • Understand supply chain and infrastructure requirements
Training methodology

How the course is delivered

The course combines P2X technology with project economics and market analysis, using current international projects as examples. Participants explore pathways, siting and offtake scenarios through realistic cases.

The programme addresses the full chain from renewable electricity to delivered molecule, and is aimed at those evaluating P2X opportunities in regions with strong renewable resource.
