Overview

Course Description

Project controls is the discipline that keeps major capital and construction projects on schedule and on budget — the integrated planning, scheduling, cost management, and performance measurement that large contractors and owners rely on to deliver multi-million-pound projects. It is one of the most in-demand competencies across construction, energy, and infrastructure.

This course develops comprehensive project controls capability: planning and scheduling (including critical path), cost estimating and control, earned value management (EVM), change control, and forecasting. Participants learn to build and maintain the schedules and cost systems that give project leadership the visibility and control needed on large, complex projects.

Objectives

What you will achieve

By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the role and scope of project controls
  • Develop work breakdown structures and project schedules
  • Apply critical path method (CPM) scheduling

  • Apply earned value management (EVM) and its metrics
  • Manage change and variations
  • Report project performance to stakeholders
Training methodology
