Overview

Course Description

A battery is only as valuable as the revenue it can capture and the grid services it can deliver. Storage projects live or die on commercial structuring — how they stack revenues, contract with offtakers, and integrate with market and network rules — not on the batteries themselves.

This course develops an understanding of the commercial and grid dimensions of battery storage. Participants learn the services storage can provide, revenue stacking and market participation, contracting and offtake structures, project economics and financing, grid connection and network integration, and the regulatory frameworks emerging around storage in developing power markets.

Objectives

What you will achieve

By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the services battery storage can provide
  • Understand revenue streams and revenue stacking
  • Explain market participation for storage
  • Understand contracting and offtake structures
  • Build and interpret storage project economics
  • Understand financing considerations for storage
  • Address grid connection and network integration
  • Understand regulatory frameworks for storage
Training methodology

How the course is delivered

The course combines the commercial logic of storage with grid integration and regulatory context, using real market examples. Participants work through revenue stacking and project economics scenarios.

The programme addresses why storage projects succeed or fail commercially, and is aimed at developers, utilities and decision-makers rather than equipment engineers.
