Overview

Course Description

As data centres grow in scale and power consumption, the ability to monitor, manage, and optimise infrastructure — and to drive down energy use — has become a strategic and financial priority. Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools and energy efficiency practices are central to running efficient, sustainable facilities.

This course develops a practical understanding of DCIM and data centre energy efficiency. Participants learn how DCIM tools monitor and manage power, cooling, space, and assets, how to measure and improve efficiency (PUE, WUE), and the strategies — from airflow management to energy management — that reduce consumption while protecting availability. The course connects operational visibility with measurable efficiency gains.

Objectives

What you will achieve

By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the role of DCIM in data centre management
  • Understand DCIM capabilities: power, cooling, space, assets
  • Apply monitoring and visualisation
  • Measure Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and WUE
  • Identify and address energy inefficiencies
  • Apply airflow and cooling optimisation
  • Develop a data centre energy management strategy
  • Balance efficiency with availability and resilience
Training methodology

How the course is delivered

The course combines DCIM capabilities with practical energy efficiency techniques and metrics. Participants work through monitoring, PUE analysis, and efficiency improvement using realistic data centre scenarios.

The programme connects operational visibility through DCIM with measurable, sustainable efficiency improvement.
