Overview

Course Description

Leak detection and repair is the operational core of methane compliance. The EU Methane Regulation requires LDAR surveys at prescribed frequencies with defined thresholds and repair deadlines — and a programme that finds leaks but cannot evidence their repair within the required window fails just as surely as one that never surveyed.

This course builds LDAR programme capability. Participants learn fugitive emission sources and their behaviour, LDAR regulatory requirements and survey frequencies, detection technologies and their limits, survey design and execution, quantification of detected leaks, repair requirements and deadlines, resurvey and verification, and the data management through which a programme is proven.

Objectives

What you will achieve

By the end of this training course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify fugitive emission sources and understand leak behaviour
  • Apply LDAR regulatory requirements and survey frequencies
  • Compare detection technologies and their detection limits
  • Design and execute an LDAR survey
  • Quantify detected leaks
  • Apply repair requirements, thresholds and deadlines
  • Manage resurvey and verification of repairs
  • Build LDAR data management and reporting
Training methodology

How the course is delivered

The course combines LDAR methodology with practical survey planning, detection interpretation and repair management exercises using realistic facility layouts and component counts.

The programme addresses LDAR as a regulated, auditable programme with deadlines and evidence requirements, not simply as leak hunting.

Who should attend

Designed for

This training course is ideal for:

  • Operations and maintenance personnel in oil and gas
  • Environmental and emissions specialists
  • HSE professionals
  • Contractors delivering LDAR services
  • Anyone running or overseeing an LDAR programme
